Half Contained explores the tension between the organic world and the structures created to control it. A dried tumbleweed pushes beyond an asymmetrical enclosure of industrial metal mesh, secured with metal wire and elevated on a slender piece of steel rebar anchored into reclaimed wood. The natural form appears simultaneously captured and escaping, creating a moment of suspended resistance. Through the contrast of delicate plant material, rigid steel, and weathered wood, the work considers containment, human intervention, environmental pressure, and nature’s persistent instinct to survive.
